LIFE IN TASSIE - REFLECTIONS ON 2025- JULY 9, 2026

I know it has taken a long time to get this on the blog page.

It is now midwinter and the mornings are 1 degree complete with mist and frost on the ground.  It usually work its way to sunny and 4 degrees by late morning.  So I need  to wear 3 layers of woolly jumper to work in my studio firstthing in the morning.

This is our first proper winter as we took time off for a tropical holiday in Kota Kinabalu in Borneo last July.On the art front, 2025 was a wonderful start as I was able to join a group exhibition at Geeveston, a very important and beautiful township about an hour and a half drive from Hobart on the southern edge. Happily, both my exhibits, The Walk to Compostella, Galicia and the The Huon Valley Walk (my first Tassie artwork) went to new homes.

In August 2026 we relocated to Cygnet - a historical township also in the Huon Valley and we rented a home on high location where we have an 180 degree view of the township, the water and the rolling hills, complete with 25 cows.   The icing on the cake is the large second lounge which is now my studio.

Jan 2026 was my solo exhibition at the Sidespace Gallery at Salamanca Arts Centre - 3 weeks of pure joy, - curating, meeting visitors, interstate and local, and talking about my art.  SAC is a historical building on the Hobart Waterfront.  Here is the link:

The exhibition was such a great experience, self curated (yes I did miss the Tanks Arts Centre Team!) with good sales - local, interstate and my first overseas sale!!

We’ve also had a few visitors this year - Mel from Cairns, Ray and Jan from Perth, Maria from Sunshine Coast and Sid and Kate from Cairns.

Ducket and I look forward to your visit and you will always be assured of a steaming spicy butter chicken for lunch!
